In the United States, birth defects such as cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy, down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and spina bifida receive a great deal of attention. The most common birth defect, congenital heart disease, does not because the surgery to cure this defect is a relatively routine procedure. However, in developing countries congenital heart disease is often a death sentence for children. Conditions like a hole in the heart, Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF), Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD), and Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) cannot be treated, nor can the damage caused to the heart by rheumatic fever.

Save a Child's Heart rescues these children with life threatening heart disease. Like Doctors without Borders, our medical team in Israel volunteers their time and services. Our Children's Home in Israel houses the children both before and after surgery.

You can be a part of the Save a Child's Heart team! Organize a fundraising event at your school, college, church or synagogue. Make Save a Child's Heart a service project for your Boy Scout troop, Girl Scout troop or youth group. Save a Child's Heart also makes a great bat mitzvah or bar mitzvah project.

$15,000 is required to save the life of one child suffering from heart disease. This amount covers the costs of hospitalization plus room & board at the SACH Children's Home. Children stay for an average of 10 weeks at the SACH Children's Home. There are 1000 children on our waiting list. Help save the children.
